Do you ever see things while you’re driving down the street that breaks your heart a little? Sometimes I see an old man with bags of groceries waiting at the bus stop by himself and it tugs on my heart strings a bit. Tonight I saw a kid, maybe in middle school or so, pushing a man in a wheelchair across the street. The light had turned red for them just as they were in the middle of the crosswalk. I see him struggling to push the man across as quickly as possible as impatient cars wait in front of them. I looked over as I drove past and the kid literally had his pants fallen down to his ankle. My first thought was, oooh what a thug. But then I thought, well maybe he was just too busy pushing the old man across the street safely he didn’t care that his pants were fallen down. I couldn’t imagine the struggle of being so young and having that kind of responsibility. And the embarrassment of having strangers seeing you like that. These fleeting moments in my life remind me of the things that I should be grateful for everyday. Or, Idk, maybe he was just a little hoodlum who liked to walk around with his pants down.
